Northern Cape Project (Phase 1, 2019-2020): Visit Four to Pixley Kaseme

Monday, November 11, 2019 - 08:00 to Thursday, November 14, 2019 - 14:00

Fourth Visit to the Project:

The overall purpose of the visit is to extend and deepen the project that was initiated in February 2019.

The teachers completed their training during the last visit to the project (Visit 3).

This visit aims to provide dedicated classroom support and mentoring to the teachers by the project team, education department officials and volunteers.

The teachers will start to implement the last two conceptual domains (Number and Letter) of the programme at the start of the Fourth Term. This will give the teachers four weeks to implement these domains before the next official visit to the project.

In addition, the visit will also provide the department of education officials and volunteers with more nuanced strategies and interventions to assist the teachers to develop in their role as mediators of the BCP.

A dedicated volunteer training for the project volunteers will be run on 11th November 2019.

A follow-up pilot research study using the LENA (Language Environment Analysis) device will also be conducted during this visit.
