Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust: Visit To Etafeni, September 2014

Support visit to Etafeni by Thandi Banjwa and Louis Benjamin

BC Unlimted continues to regularly support and mentor the Etafeni Educare and Grade R teachers.

Thandi, the project field worker, focussed on the Grade R and pre-Grade R teachers during this visit.

The Grade R teacher mediated a session about feelings, while the pre-Grade R teacher taught a number session.

Both teachers engaged their learners in discussions and encouraged them to produce full sentences and logical explanations for their answers. The learners seemed to enjoy these lively interactions - see pictures below.

It is exciting to see the mediated teaching approach starting to take root at Etafeni. And the teachers, whilst making good progress, still seem to benefit from support.
