Description
The intervention aims to develop the language and dispositions required for thinking and learning using a whole-school approach at the centre. The project is being implemented with all groups starting with the youngest who are still infants and extending up to Grade R. The conceptual themes of the programme are used as an organizer for all groups at the centre. The language used for intervention is Xhosa.
Evaluation
The learners who are in Grade R at the centre in 2012 will be assessed when they are in Grade 1 (2013). The results will be compared with the Grade 1 baseline data gathered from one of the draining schools in the community in 2012 (See research below). It is also proposed that Grade R learners at the centre be assessed annually over the next four years as learners from the younger groups progress into Grade R.
